The Haunted Tree: A Witness’s Tale from the Resin Army Community
It’s hard to explain the strange pull I felt the first time I saw it. The Haunted Tree, a miniature like no other. The moment my eyes locked on it, I knew I had to have it. It wasn’t just the detail that stood out—it was the energy, the eerie aura that surrounded the tiny figure. I’ve been a member of the Resin Army community for years now, and I’ve seen some incredible creations. But nothing like this.
The tree stood out among the collection of fantasy miniatures. Its gnarled roots twisted into unsettling shapes, curling and spiraling as if trying to break free from the confines of the resin. The branches—long, thin, and bent—looked like they could reach out at any moment, grasping for something unseen. It was as if the tree itself had a dark secret buried deep within its twisted trunk.
I remember my first reaction when I saw the listing on Resin Armies. I thought, What kind of masterpiece is this? It wasn’t just a tree. It was a symbol of something older. Something more mysterious. I could feel the weight of its presence through the screen.
I had to get it. I placed my order without hesitation.
Weeks later, the box finally arrived. I could feel the excitement build inside me as I unwrapped the package. My fingers carefully peeled back the bubble wrap. And there it was. The Haunted Tree. Even in its raw resin form, I could see its potential. But something was off. It wasn’t the usual excitement I felt when I received a new miniature. This time, I felt… uneasy.
I placed the tree on my workbench. For days, it just sat there, silently awaiting my attention. But I couldn’t bring myself to paint it. There was a coldness about it that made me hesitant. Every time I glanced at the figure, I felt as though it was watching me, waiting for something.
One evening, I finally decided to start painting it. I chose dark, earthy tones, aiming for a classic look—browns for the trunk, shades of green for the leaves. But as soon as the brush touched the surface of the resin, something strange happened. The paint seemed to absorb into the figure faster than I expected. It wasn’t like regular resin. This one pulled at the paint, almost like it was hungry.
The Haunted Tree began to change under my hands. It felt as if the resin was alive. I wasn’t just painting a miniature anymore—I was interacting with something far more ancient. The details in the bark became more pronounced, the knots in the wood seemed to twist and writhe under the paint.
Suddenly, I heard a soft sound—a creak, like wood bending in the wind. I stopped. My brush hovered in mid-air. Was I imagining it? I looked around the room, but nothing seemed out of place. I dismissed the noise as just my imagination.
But the feeling didn’t go away. I continued to paint, but now I could feel a presence. A cold chill settled over me. The air seemed thicker. I shook my head, trying to ignore the strange sensations. It was just a miniature. Just resin. There was nothing to fear.
As I finished painting the tree’s branches, I noticed something disturbing. The leaves, which I had painted a vibrant green, had started to fade. They didn’t just lose their color—they seemed to wither. It was as if the tree was slowly decaying before my eyes.
I stepped back, heart pounding. This wasn’t right. I’d painted hundreds of miniatures before, but nothing like this. I had to finish it. I didn’t want to stop. My hands seemed to move on their own, as though the tree was guiding me.
As I added the final touches, I felt the room grow colder. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. I glanced at the tree. Its twisted branches seemed to shift, just for a moment. No. It couldn’t be.
I reached out and touched the trunk of the Haunted Tree. The moment my fingers made contact, I felt a sharp pain—like a thousand needles stabbing into my skin. I pulled my hand away, but the pain lingered, sharp and cold.
I stared at the miniature, heart racing. It was no longer just a resin figure. It was something alive, something haunted. I could feel its pulse, its energy coursing through the resin. It wasn’t just a tree—it was a presence, an entity trapped within the miniature.
I didn’t know what to do. I had to get rid of it. But every time I thought about throwing it away, the tree seemed to call out to me. I couldn’t escape it. The more I tried to distance myself from it, the stronger the pull became.
Desperate for answers, I turned to the Resin Army community. I posted my story, asking if anyone else had experienced something similar. The response was overwhelming.
Some members suggested it might be a haunted piece of resin, a rare anomaly in the world of miniatures. Others speculated that the tree might have absorbed negative energy during its creation, trapping it within the resin. Some even mentioned that certain types of resin were known to carry strange properties, reacting to the emotions of the person who painted them.
I wasn’t sure what to believe, but one thing was certain: I couldn’t keep the Haunted Tree. The longer it stayed in my possession, the stronger its grip became. I could feel it in my thoughts, in my dreams. The tree was alive, and it was waiting.
A fellow Resin Army member suggested a ritual to cleanse the miniature. It involved salt, incense, and a special cleansing chant to release any trapped energy. Desperate, I followed the instructions. I carefully placed the tree on a bed of salt, lit the incense, and spoke the words aloud.
At first, nothing happened. But then the room seemed to darken. The air thickened again. I could feel the temperature drop. The tree began to tremble, its resin shifting. A faint whisper filled the room, as if the tree was speaking to me, calling my name. The branches seemed to sway, even though there was no wind.
The ritual wasn’t enough. The Haunted Tree had taken hold of me, and I couldn’t escape it.
In the end, I made the difficult decision to send the tree back to the Resin Armies store. I couldn’t keep it any longer, and I didn’t want anyone else to experience what I had gone through. Resin Armies, being the incredible community they are, accepted the return and made sure to handle the situation carefully.
But the memory of the Haunted Tree will stay with me forever. It’s a reminder that not every miniature is just a figure to be painted. Some miniatures hold power, and some are more than just resin.
If you’re thinking about ordering a piece from Resin Armies, I urge you to be careful. Not all miniatures are made equal. Some are mere decorations, while others carry something darker. The Haunted Tree is just one example. Be cautious of what you bring into your collection. And always remember, you’re never truly alone when you’re surrounded by miniatures.
